We spent the last leg of our road trip to Spain visiting the Dali Museum in Figueres and exploring Costa Brava’s stunning country-side.
We were looking for a cheap apartment in the area when we stumbled on Joaquim’s studio apartment on Air B&B. It costs just £30/night for 2-3 people, so it is definitely cheaper than most hostels. Quite a good deal, if you ask us 🙂
The apartment is situated in a quiet village close to Figueres. The accommodation itself is quite basic. There is a double bed, an en-suite bathroom, and a tiny kitchenette included in the price. We requested for an extra bed as Sid was travelling with us. The room is perfect for 2 people, but it can get a bit cramped for 3 people.
Joaquim (or ‘Kim’ as he is known to his friends) was an amiable host. He greeted us with chocolates, home-made wine, and a detailed guide to the area. He lives just above the apartment, so he was always around to answer our queries.
The pièce de résistance of this little apartment is its garden. The large garden is full of flowers and plants, but our favourite corner was a table laid out under grape vines. There are lamps entwined around the vines, which make a pretty picture at night. We had so many meals on this table while we stayed at Joaquim’s place. What fun 🙂
