Christmas might not even be out of the way yet (you’ve still got the clearing up to do and the rickety ladder to climb to remove those outdoor lights) but already you’re dreaming of white sand, cocktails and watching the kids play in the pool.
But just where should you head off to next summer?
Portugal
One of the most popular holiday destinations for families, Portugal offers all the basics a holidaymaker might need, including sandy beaches, fresh seafood dinners, luxurious resorts and even some of the world’s top golf courses – to keep everyone entertained. We suggest visiting the stunning island of Madeira and spending the day swimming in the natural lava pools in Porto Moniz or taking a walk through the tranquil Monte Palace Tropical Garden, which can be reached by cable car.
Portugal is such a much loved holiday destination that many people invest their money in property in the country and you can find experts, such as Portugal Property, selling luxurious villas (with private pools) for reasonable prices up and down the country.
Canary Islands
For a reasonably priced holiday, featuring lots of fun, a visit to one of the Canary Islands is the perfect option for a family getaway. Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote are the most popular islands and feature some fantastic water parks for the whole family to enjoy.
Pay a visit to Aqualand de Costa Adeje in Tenerife to experience dolphin shows and numerous swimming pools or Baku Water Park in Fuerteventura featuring a sandy sunbathing area, restaurants, mini golf and a craft street market.
Turkey
If you’re looking for an affordable family holiday, featuring a little luxury and a touch of extravagance, then head to Turkey to experience some true (Turkish) delights. With a plethora of culture, history and tranquil blue seas brushing against white sandy beaches a holiday in Turkey is pure paradise.
Venture around a traditional Turkish market and barter for stunning clothing and traditional goods, sample the local cuisine and pay a visit to historical sites such as the ruins of Ephesus to give the kids a history lesson.
Mexico
If sandy beaches, palm trees and a truly exotic experience is your family’s idea of the perfect getaway, then make the 11 hour plane trip to Mexico to get your fill. With very warm temperatures all year round, many families opt to head to the country in the winter months, where the temperature is still around 25°C on average.
Enjoy traditional Mexican cuisine (with not a themed restaurant in sight) and tuck into freshly made tacos and spicy dishes. If you like to drag the kids around cultural sites then pay a visit to the magnificent Mayan temples and the Kukulcan Pyramid, which is, of course, considered to be one of the seven wonders of the world.
Cyprus
A visit to the Mediterranean island of Cyprus should be on the cards for your family holiday in 2015 – that’s if they’re hoping for clear blue seas, sunny skies and plenty of locations to experience marine life with a snorkel and a pair of goggles.
The country also offers plenty of attractions to keep the family entertained, Limassol Zoo is a popular destination along with the Lara Bay Turtle Conservation in Paphos, where you can see protected nests and even turtles on the beach at certain times of the year.
