Seychelles is the promised land. Sparkling blue waters, verdant plantations, and scenic hikes, bustling markets, water sports, and plenty of private island getaways make it ideal for honeymoons and romantic getaways.

This is Seychelles for you. LOVE ๐Ÿ™‚

Weโ€™ve already penned a detailed day-by-day itinerary for Seychellesย but we wanted to tempt you just a little bit further. Seychelles Tourism is currently running the Wanderlove campaign in association with Yatra and encouraging couples whoโ€™ve been to Seychelles to share their experience. So we thought weโ€™d do just that! ๐Ÿ™‚ Here are 10 Reasons to plan your honeymoon in Seychelles โ€“ think of it as 10 things you must do on your honeymoon or romantic getaway in Seychelles

Should we start? Are you ready to be seduced? Letโ€™s go!!!

  • 1) Relaxing on a secluded beach

There are fewer rituals more relaxing and rejuvenating that time spent on a beach. Seychelles has plenty of stunning beaches to offer. Anse Source Dโ€™argent and Corte dโ€™Or are some of our favourites. But the best part is that it is easy to get a stretch of beach all to yourself in Seychelles. Most hotels boast of secluded beaches but donโ€™t be disappointed if yours doesnโ€™t. Just request your driver to suggest an offbeat public beach, which doesnโ€™t see many tourists. Make sure you carry your sunscreen, a hat, a book, and some wine to have an incredible time at one of Seychellesโ€™ gorgeous beaches

  • 2) Island hopping with ease (and on a budget!)

A number of other archipelagos such as Maldives and French Polynesia offer island-hopping opportunities. However it is extremely expensive and hard to go from one island to the other in these countries. As a result most tourists spend their time on one island only. Not in Seychelles. Public ferries make it easy and affordable for guests to commute. This is amazing as you get to explore so much more. We would definitely suggest putting the islands of Praslin and La Digue on your itinerary if you are celebrating your honeymoon in Seychelles

  • 3) Making friends with smiling locals

If privacy isnโ€™t the only thing youโ€™re after and you love exploring, even on your honeymoon, we have good news! The ease of movement between different islands and within the islands makes it easy for guests to interact with locals. Explore the bustling market and colourful houses of Victoria on Mahรฉ Island or interact with locals at the Lโ€™Union Estate on La Digue. You are bound to make new friends. Who doesnโ€™t like coming home from a honeymoon with such great memories?

  • 4) Biking along the coast

One of the most romantic things to do in Seychelles is to rent bikes and explore a tiny island at your own pace. It is easy to rent bikes on small islands such as La Digue and Silhouette. Spend your day biking around at a leisurely pace youโ€™re your partner. Discover hidden beaches and caves, stop for a meal when you feel like it, or just take a break and go snorkelling โ€“ aah!

  • 5) Meeting giant tortoises

Seychelles is one of the very few countries in the world where you can see and even touch giant tortoises. Make sure you put Lโ€™Union Estate on your itinerary for your honeymoon in Seychelles. Here you can explore old plantation houses and spend time with sluggish tortoises. They seem to work on island time โ€“ slow and easy!

  • 6) Working up an appetite with a hike that takes your breath away

If youโ€™re craving a bit of exercise on your honeymoon, then book yourself a scenic hike and witness Seychellesโ€™ magnificent nature for yourself. There are plenty of hikes on each island but there are two that we would definitely recommend. The challenging Copolia Trail on Mahรฉ Island ends with at a cliff top that offers a stunning view of Seychellesโ€™ turquoise blue waters and the surrounding islands. Vallee de Mai home to the rare Coco De Mer, offers a 3 hour hike through a plantation. Once again, the end of the hike offers panoramas that will leave you smitten.

  • 7) Hotel rooms that look like this

Seychelles has a range of accommodation to suit every budget. But if you are on your honeymoon weโ€™d recommend splurging on a luxurious hotel room, where you feel pampered to bits. Seychelles offers some of the most luxurious hotel rooms in the world. Take your pick from a room that opens straight onto the beach or a cliff-top room with a private plunge pool with a stunning view to boot. Our suggestion? Split your time and try to experience both kinds of rooms. Choose one with a private pool on the island of Mahรฉ and one that opens right to the beach on the islands of Praslin or Silhouette.

  • 8) Water sports that will enthrall you like nothing else

No island honeymoon is complete without a range of water sports and Seychelles is no different. Seychellesโ€™ islands offer everything from snorkelling and sailing to diving and rafting. Most hotels offer water sports within the premises. At the very least, we would recommend renting snorkelling equipment from your hotel and enjoying Seychellesโ€™ gorgeous transparent waters for yourself. You will see entire schools of colourful fish and come out completely mesmerised.

  • 9) Breakfasts on the beach

Aah is there anything else that is as pleasurable as a languorous breakfast on the beach? I think not! If youโ€™re in the mood to treat your partner to something truly special on your honeymoon, then request the hotel to set up a special canopy for you at the beach. Most hotels offer this service at a small surcharge. If not, then just order room service and enjoy it in the balcony of your beach-facing hotel room. We promise you one thing โ€“ you will be unable to tear yourself from the view.

  • Sipping champagne while watching dolphins on a boat

Let me play out a scenario for you โ€“ youโ€™re sipping on chilled champagne in a little boat that bobs up and down on turquoise waters. As time passes, sunshine mellows down. Itโ€™s time for sunset and as the sun goes down, the sky is lit ochre. Suddenly somewhere between two tiny islands in the middle of nowhere, you spot 5 playful dolphins jumping in and out of the ocean. As the day metamorphoses to evening and your boat brings you back on land, you wonder if it was a dream you just witnessed or reality. THAT is Seychelles for you!

Definitely going to take all recommendations from your experiences (as we do always). Was trying to find an article to what to pack but couldn’t find one for Seychelles, would you mind sharing some tips with us? Thanks!

    1. Hey Hope you had a great honeymoon in Seychelles. In terms of packing, well for Seychelles just pack light (lots of swimwear and cotton clothes) and perhaps one light jumper for those boat rides in the evening when it might be a bit too cold ๐Ÿ˜‰

  9. I was so confused regarding where to go on my honeymoon. Your blog surely made it easier. Such Beautiful and an informative piece.

  10. Wonderful read. I am planning to go to Seychelles for my honeymoon and this article is so helpful. Thanks a lot. Also if you could recommend one more country/island we could combine with Seychelles for a 2 weeks honeymoon it would be a great help.

  11. Hey Savi n Vid,
Could you please advise on the budget if we chooose to stay in cheap hotels and have most of the food packed with us already?

    1. Hi Fathima,

Unfortunately that is a difficult question for us to answer and we don’t want to second guess and give you figures that you might find completely off once you’re there. I do remember though that even the cheap hotels in Seychelles can be much more expensive than many “expensive” hotels elsewhere in the world so it’s all very subjective. Sorry could not be of more help.

  12. Hi, what is the best time to visit. Planning to visit in January. Pl help if the climate would support or not.

    1. January is considered to be one of the wettest months in Seychelles but we have been told that even then rains are in short spells. Up to you ๐Ÿ™‚
