In our series titled Breaking The Shackles, we have been sharing some choices we made that have impacted our own lives. Today’s episode is all about Experiences vs Things 🎁

Both of us love and live for travel! So when we got married, we promised each other that instead of gifting things to each other for birthdays and anniversaries, we would save that money and spend it on new travel experiences each year! ✈️🌍Meeting new people, evolving together, and doing new and magical things together would be our “gift” to each other - and we’ve stuck to it for many years now. This simple decision truly unleashed magic in our lives! 🫶🌍

Because it made us realise that travelling the world is truly like exercising the mind because it makes you go out of your comfort zone, makes you less judgmental, and most importantly gives you stories and experiences that can NEVER be taken away from you, no matter what! 😊And I truly think these new experiences add so much to people who possess them ☺️🌍

So this is a little reminder to make a list of priorities that SUIT you (not society!) when you become financially independent. There are NO rights and wrongs - your money, your priorities💰 Don’t do something just because it’s considered cool - do it because it feels instinctively right to YOU 😊

But the next time you’re there, you must explore UAE beyond Dubai. From Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah to Sharjah, Ajman and Fujairah, there are SO many amazing travel experiences in UAE. In the Thule region (pronounced Thoo-lay) in Greenland & Canada, we woke up to stunning ice-sculptures in the Arctic wildnerness each day 💙💙. But floating past these intricate ice-sculptures in a zodiac (little inflatable boat you see in the second photo) with seals and artic birds for company was so overwhelming that not just me- Everyone in our group fell SILENT for a few minutes as we glided past these beauties! 💙💙

But seeing whales and polar bears with their lil ones topped it all! 🐻‍❄️🐋🐋It’s RARE moments like these that remind us about the reasons we fell in LOVE with travelling in the first place 🌍💙💙
