Choosing accommodation in Seychelles can hard because every hotel seems to advertise its proximity to white powdery beaches, services like welcome drinks and water sports, and facilities like open air showers and scenic spas. How is one to make a choice? 🙂

Something to keep in mind is that the island destination doesn’t exactly cater to backpackers, so accommodation starts at around £100/night. However this price often includes water sports at the hotel, evening cocktails, sunset cruises, kayak rentals, breakfast, and other such. Make sure you confirm inclusions and exclusions before you book a hotel as prices of activities can quickly add up in Seychelles.

Seychelles has some amazing accommodation

We sampled a variety of accommodation on our trip to Seychelles, so here’s a quick overview of accommodation that you could book, irrespective of your preferences and budgets. The list is followed by detailed reviews and photographs of 3 of our favourite hotels in Seychelles. We hope this article makes your choice easier:

Mahe

Mahe has a large variety of accommodation to suit most budgets – you will find everything from guesthouses and B&Bs to luxury hotels and plush resorts here. Here are a few hotels you could consider:

Luxury – Hilton Northolme Resort and Spa and Four Seasons Mahe

Mid-range – Double Tree by Hilton

Budget – Coral Strand. You can also check AirBnB for apartments on a budget.

Praslin

Praslin is extremely popular with tourists. Unsurprisingly it is easy to find accommodation to suit most budgets here. Here are a few hotels you could consider in Praslin:

Luxury – Raffles Praslin and Constance Lemuria

Mid-range – Le Duc de Praslin

Budget – Acajou Hotel

La Digue

La Digue is a tiny island with bucolic pathways. There aren’t too many hotels on this island, so we suggest visiting it on a day trip from Praslin. However if you do decide to stay in La Digue, here are two recommended options:

Mid-range – Le Domaine de L’Orangeraie

Budget – Chateau St.Cloud

Private Island Resorts

Seychelles is extremely popular as a honeymoon destination and with good reason. It is ideal for a luxurious romantic getaway where you can spend the hours indulging in the finer things in life without a care in the world. If you are in Seychelles to celebrate something special, then look up one of the private island resorts in the country.

Hilton Labriz Resort and Spa, located on Silhouette island, is a popular option and has won several awards for being the best hotel in this part of the world. As a result, rooms at Hilton Labriz get sold out months in advance. Make sure you book in advance.

If you want something even more private and uber-luxurious, then you can check out North Island Luxury Lodge or Six Senses Zil Payson.

Our favourites?

I) Hilton Northolme Resort and Spa, Mahe

It was photos of a stunning infinity pool first drew us to Hilton Northolme Resort and Spa. But on getting there, we fell in love with this property. It is one of the most intimate Hilton Hotels that we’ve ever stayed at and the attention to detail is incredible.

The hotel is located on a historical site and is surrounded by sparkling turquoise waters on all sides. The intimate property boasts of villas perched on hillocks – this ensures great views from every room. There are a variety of rooms on offer but we suggest opting for a pool villa for a truly memorable holiday. Each pool villa comes equipped with a double bed, walk in wardrobe, a lounging area, and a spacious bathroom with a bathtub overlooking the glistening waters of the Indian Ocean. The piece de resistence? You own private infinity pool! We spent several hours relishing sunrises, sunsets, and warm Seychellois days by our pool.

While the stunning private plunge pool will make it very hard for you to tear yourself away from the room, you must leave it to sample the plethora of dining options available at Hilton Northolme. The hotel is home to a few incredibly scenic restaurants – buffet breakfasts (with champagne of course!) and dinners are served at the picturesque Hilltop Restaurant that offers panoramic views from every angle. The Oceanview Bar is perfect for light lunch or evening cocktails – grab a seat by the railing and watch your partner snorkel or swim in azure waters right below the restaurant. If you’re celebrating a special occasion, then book yourself a table at Les Cocotiers – the fine dining restaurant offers a well-curated wine list and menu, laden with scrumptious salads and creole specialities. Make sure you opt for a table under the stars for an experience you won’t forget for a long time.

PS – Since so many of you have asking us for the exact room number, we stayed in pool villa #301

II) Le Duc de Praslin, Praslin

This is Seychelles and proximity to an idyllic beach is amazing, nay, essential. Le Duc de Praslin is a small local hotel that is located next to one of the most gorgeous beaches in Seychelles – Cote d’or. But that’s not all – the hotel is a minute’s walk from one of the most famous restaurants (Les des arts) and most scenic bars (—) in Praslin.

The hotel itself is different from a traditional luxury hotel as it aims to offer an insight into the Seychelles’ way of life. It offers spacious rooms equipped with all facilities that you might need for a comfortable stay including an outdoor shower, a rain shower, coffee machine, large bed, and even a hammock.  The entire complex is bedecked with artefacts from around Seychelles and everything from the furniture to the breakfast spread is Seychellois at heart. The best part is that it is easy to spend 2-3 days just relaxing in the complex – spend your mornings at the beach, hop over to the neighbouring cafe for a quick lunch. Head to the hotel for a quick nap, freshen up for the evening and hop over to the Tapas Bar for sundowners as you watch the sun set over the Indian Ocean. If you don’t enjoy classic luxury, try a stay at Le Duc de Praslin for something unique and laden with character.

III) Hilton Labriz Resort and Spa, Silhouette Island

Hilton Labriz Resort and Spa has won several awards for its unique location and incredible hospitality. It is one of the most popular luxury hotels in Seychelles, and with good reason! The hotel is located on a tiny island called Silhouette Island and it is only possible to get there by boat or helicopter. The hotel itself offers a luxurious experiential holiday. That’s because an entire island is at your disposal when you stay at Hilton Labriz. We spent our days exploring every nook and cranny of the island on our bright blue bikes, having leisurely breakfasts by the beach, hopping on a short cruise at sunset and snorkelling in crystal clear waters. There’s a PADI Diving Centre here too, incase you want to book yourself a dive or two.

Rooms live up to the Hilton standard of excellence and they are well equipped with everything you might need for a romantic getaway. Bathrooms are extremely spacious and all of them have bathtubs. If you’ve already chosen a pool villa in Mahe, then try to choose a beach front villa at Hilton Labriz. These villas open right onto a beach and give you the rare opportunity to have your morning coffee as white sand tickles your toes.

As this is a private island, dining options are limited to the ones offered by the hotel. A la carte dining can get expensive, so we suggest booking rooms on a Half Board or All Inclusive basis. We chose the latter and it gave us access to most of the hotel’s restaurants. We loved sampling Japanese food to the sound of waves at Sakura Restaurant and lazy lunches by the pool at Cafe Dauban (they do the best fruit juices there!). But we also had one of our favourite meals from our entire trip to Seychelles at Hilton Labriz – this was a creole fusion meal at Grann Kaz, a lovely restaurant situated in a refurbished plantation house. Do not leave the hotel with trying the curries or salads (especially the palm heart salad) at Grann Kaz. You will thank us for it 🙂

  9. Hi Guys,

I read in one of your previous post’s comment section that you often look up for Hotels pricing on Hotelscombined.com and that was one BIG help, you guys are amazing, Thanks much for that! It is indeed a better place to look up for ratings and pricing.
Assuming you both plan your holidays by yourself, I had a doubt when it came to Seychelles. I am planning a Honeymoon trip for Decemeber, was going about booking hotels on my own, I was not sure about how to go about transfer-ins to different islands, how did you guys go about that, spoke to the hotels to arrange while hopping islands or did them through any particular agency on the islands?

    1. Hey Nikita – so happy your found the tip about comparing prices helpful. We’ve found some great deals that way. You can arrange transfers with hotels or a local cab company (if you’re doing the latter, please read reviews of the cab company before booking transfers or paying them) 🙂

  10. Hey savi vid loved your seychelles trip .thanks for the itinerary .iam planning for my honeymoon there in march .can u suggest should i backpack or make pacakge .and please suggest the visa procedure i vl be travelling from mumbai .

    1. Hey you can book hotels and flights independently – it’s very easy to do so. Seychelles offers visa on arrival – you can read more about it online!

  11. Hie Guys,
We are planning a trip to Seychelles in August for 4 days and staying at Coral Strand in Mahe.
What do you best suggest to explore?

  12. True! Seychelles is definitely not for the backpackers. I had booked Airbnb properties when I visited Mahe and Praslin as I did not want to engage in water sports. The Airbnb property were cheaper than the hotels that way.
