We tackled a couple of really hard treks when we visited Bavaria (Germany). After spending 2-3 days of panting our lungs dry at new altitudes while wearing the dreariest clothes known to mankind, we decided to take a day off to unwind. If you’re looking to relax in the countryside, there are fewer European places prettier than Bavaria. In this instance we were on the Deutsche Alpenstrasse (The German Alpine Road), a serpentine road that took us through dozens of tiny villages, fairy-tale castles, and Alpine lakes.

We spent our time picnicking in gnarled forests, picking flowers with wild bunnies for company. It was a gorgeous sunny day and the forests of Bavaria were literally luminiscent in the sunlight. The magical woods, moss-laden trees, and tumbling streams ensured another round of speculation about nymphs and fairy folk.

I’m wearing a black chiffon maxi dress. The breezy fabric and romantic silhouette of the dress might be perfect, but black certainly isn’t the first colour that comes to mind when one thinks of a pastoral setting. The solution? Just add some pastel accents to soften the entire look. I scattered some pearl hair-clips all over my braid and tacked some pastel pink and ivory corsages onto a regular black belt. I’ve spoken of my love for flower crowns before, so the white head-dress will not come as a surprise ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Awww such a pretty n a feminine look! ๐Ÿ™‚ You look amazing. And the photos!!!! They are excellent, I loved the second one from last, it is absolutely perfect ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. I admire the way you take something so simple and turn it into a dream. Love the idea of corsages and pearl clips. You look like a lost princess in an enchanted forest. ๐Ÿ™‚
Might I suggest you write a bit more about the different ways ( color, fabric, accessories) in which one can put the whole look together.

    1. Thanks Shivangi – yeah, I love playing dress-up ๐Ÿ™‚ I never gave that aspect much thought, because I usually just throw things together and let my instinct guide me, but will give it some thought and definitely include more details the next time

    1. Zofia I don’t blame your friend – the Bavarian countryside cries for some full-on fairy costumes ๐Ÿ˜‰
