A lot of you ask us how we plan our trips, so I thought I’d give you a little insight into it by penning an article on this photo discovery platform we’ve been using for the past couple of years. If you’ve been following us on Facebook or Instagram, you would know we’ve been raving about Trover on social media. In fact, we even wrote an article about it when it first launched a few years ago. It’s 2017 now but we’re using it more than ever!

Forever sharing our love for Trover on Instagram with you guys

If you’re a traveller or a travel enthusiast, then you definitely need to have an account on Trover. Here are 5 reasons we love using the website to plan our travels:

  • Geo-tagging

Trover has a small geotagging feature. This comes in really handy when you are looking for fun things to do in the immediate area. We use it a lot when we’re heading out for a day in a new city. I love this feature because this is one thing that is missing from other inspirational sites such as Pinterest. For eg. on our recent trip to Kerala, we had a few hours to while away before our flight. Ordinarily these would’ve been spent in a nondescript cafe. But we looked up Trover for suggestions on things to do in area and ended up at the majestic Athirappilly Waterfalls.

  • Wishlists

Of course, no travel website is complete without a feature for dreamers aka armchair travellers. If you like planning fanciful trips to different corners of the earth while sitting in the comfort of your own home, then this feature is perfect for you. Peruse endless discoveries from hundreds of countries and compile your favourites into a wishlist. For instance – I’ve been itching to visit the Far East for a long time now, so I’m constantly working my way through discoveries from South Korea, China, and Japan on Trover. The ones that suit my travelling style make it to my wishlist!

  • Research for an upcoming trip

Of course the wishlist feature isn’t just for dreaming. You can compile lists for countries that you will visit in upcoming trips. Narrow down the search based on personal preferences. Look for cafés if you like coffee or museums if you enjoy art.

We love discovering panoramic gems that lend themselves well to photographs. So we compiled a list of our favourite places in South America in a list called ‘South America Dream Trip’. When we finally made it to South America, we made it a point to visit a lot of those places and discovered some amazing gems along the way. Places such as Valle de la Luna in La Paz, Bolivia might have never made it to our itinerary otherwise!

  • Sharing our discoveries with others

Trover gives its readers access to endless travel-related content for free. The community thrives on passion of travellers. Naturally, it is fun to share our own discoveries with the community. We always upload lots of discoveries from our trips onto Trover in the hope of helping someone travelling to that country or city.

If you’re uploading your discoveries on Trover, make sure you upload clear high-resolution photos with a short description about the place. Don’t forget to geotag each photo accurately because that is the only way fellow travellers will discover your photos and discoveries.

  • Competitions – winning money to travel the world!

Let’s be honest – who doesn’t like winning money to travel the world? Trover has regular contests and you can win money or gadgets for future travels. We try and share them on our social media platforms as often as possible. But you will get alerts straight to your mailbox if you have your own account on Trover. Enter as many competitions as you possibly can – who knows when Lady Luck might shine on you. All the best 🙂

    1. Hey Hanif,

No question is a stupid question 😉 Trover relies heavily on photographs, so you can get a pictorial idea of what to expect in a city or country you’re planning to visit. It also lets you see really cool places near you – these places are shared by other users.

You should give it a try 🙂
